PIANO PIECES BY VASILIJE MOKRANJAC

Assembly of the City of Belgrade

Wednesday, June 28, Assembly of the City of Belgrade at 8 PM
PIANO PIECES BY VASILIJE MOKRANJAC
VLADIMIR GLIGORIĆ, piano

For his debut performance at the Belgrade Summer Festival – BELEF, the pianist
Vladimir Gligorić has chosen to present a recital of piano pieces by one of the most important contemporary Serbian composers – Vasilije Mokranjac (1923–1984). Gligorić's programme encompasses a selection from the composer's entire creative output for the piano, starting from his early opus (Minuet) followed by the miniatures exhibiting traits of the so called “national idiom” (Fragments, Six Dances, Etudes), and closing the recital with works representative of the composer’s late, neo-impressionist creative phase (Intimacies, Echoes, Five Preludes, Prelude).

Vladimir Gligorić was born in Belgrade in 1979. He obtained his PhD in music performance from the Faculty of Music in Belgrade. As a recitalist he performed in Serbia, Croatia, Spain, Switzerland, Italy and the USA, and as a soloist with orchestra in Serbia, Ukraine and Bulgaria. He received several accolades in Serbia and abroad for his artistic work.
In the recent years he has particularly explored the piano repertoire of Serbian contemporary composers. He released a CD of piano pieces of Serbian composers.
He is employed at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade as an independent artistic collaborator.
