Belgrade Baroque Ensemble was founded in 2003. Its foundation was initiated by the violinist Predrag Novović (Sweden/Serbia) and a group of students who were participating actively in a workshop at Music School Josip Slavenski and the Faculty of Music in Belgrade. The ensemble consists of the musicians who perform on the authentic instruments from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, applying performing styles from that period, and it is one of the first ensembles of its kind in Serbia.
The ensemble has worked together with many renowned musicians from the domain of early music and it has held highly appraised concerts in Serbia and abroad (Theatre Confidancen at Urliksdal Palace, Stockholm; Timisoara Early Music Festival, International Harpsichord Festival in Belgrade Ars Vivendi clavicembalum; Belgrade International Early Music Festival of the Studio for Early Music; Salzkammergut Festwochen...).
Since 2010 the Belgrade Baroque Ensemble has enjoyed the support of the Austria Barock Akademie: sholarships awarded to the members of the Ensemble enabled them to attend master classes of the renowned early music experts in Gmunden (Austria). As laureates of the Austria Barock Akademie Prize 2011 the Belgrade Baroque peformed for the first time in Vienna at the ÖRF Radiokulturhaus - Großer Sendesaal in November 2012, with live broadcast of the concert on the Austrian national radio. In 2014 the Ensemble performed within the Music season of the Radio Belgrade Studio 6, with live broadcast on Radio Belgrade 3 and RTS Digital.
